Our hearts are aflutter! Two measures to help Monarchs, long championed by NJ Audubon, are now law! Earlier this week the Governor signed the “Adopt a Monarch Butterfly Waystation” bill which will provide resources and coordination for planting milkweed and other nectar sources on public lands and parks as well as the “Milkweed for Monarchs” program to focus efforts on state-owned stormwater management basins that provide ideal growth opportunities for swamp milkweed in otherwise unused areas. Both bills will help ensure the survival of Monarchs by increasing the availability of milkweed, the plant species they depend on. Special thanks to Asm. Eustace for his leadership!
